In addition, the continual study of the effect of alloying elements on the properties of metals often results in the discovery and development of more sophisticated alloys to meet the rigorous demands of contemporary applications. Selection of the most suitable alloy to meet the requirements of a specific application, and selection of the proper casting method, will provide castings with dependable performance characteristics at optimum cost.
