Prevention of Velocity Effects - Erosion Corrosion and Cavitation

PROJECT: Salon Afif
LOCATION: Toronto, Ontario
APPLICATION: Prepatinated Cladding
ARCHITECT: Vassex Design, Toronto
CONTRACTOR: Kalish Contracting, Toronto
METAL SUPPLIER: Canadian Brass & Copper Ltd., Concord, Ontario
DESCRIPTION:
Salon Afif was established more than twenty years ago near Yonge and Eglinton, in Toronto. A recent renovation by award-winning Vassex Design is an outstanding example of the value embodied in these types of projects. The Salon storefront is clad in eye-catching prepatinated copper and glass, and the owner has reported that sales doubled following the renovation.

The original aluminum siding was replaced with prepatinated copper sheet and solid brass strip details, creating a distinct image for the building at street level. The copper will continue to patinate over time, further enhancing its appearance. When using prepatinated sheet for cladding or roofing, the long wait for the material to turn green is eliminated. This is an important consideration, especially for retail establishments.

With its warm appearance and striking colour, the Salon is an impressive addition to the neighbourhood of traditional storefronts and shops.
